Advantages over traditional machine translation
COLT™ is much more than just machine translation. The system combines the best of both human translation for maximum quality and also automatic translation for maximum speed and budget control, seamlessly integrated with a comprehensive document management system.
- Maximum Leverage of Human Quality: COLT™ performs a first pass using the preprocessor and Inventory of previous human translations to leverage exact/extrapolated matches, if they exist, so that anything translated in this pass is human-quality accurate translation. This leads to overall higher quality and continuous improvement. The system continually improves as material is added to the Inventory™, and material is added to the Inventory™ as a result of Elanex’s professional services business.
- Budget Controls Independent of Volume: COLT™ performance on specific source materials can be enhanced by adding pre-processor rules and/or by using Elanex’s human services to edit or translate selected documents. Those improvements are then reflected in all automatically processed materials. Both approaches involve human effort, but the amount of human effort (and hence cost) is not related to translation volume, so the budget can be managed by the client as an independent variable. - High-speed Document Processing in 100+ Formats: The server-based engine processes translation of 25,000 documents per day, and the document input/output system enables extremely rapid recreation of translated documents, so any quality improvements can quickly be reflected in actual finished output. COLT™ processes translations in 100+ formats and can replace source text with translations fully preserving layout and format.
